Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic

The Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic directed by Dr. Joseph D. Ackerson conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and provides therapeutic interventions for individuals age 4 to 18 or young adults if enrolled in an academic program. These evaluations are geared towards individuals who are experiencing academic, behavioral, and/or social issues secondary to brain disorders (such as concussion or other traumatic brain injury, toxic exposure, genetic-based disorders, immunological disorders, and neurological-based complications including, but not limited to, epilepsy, demyelinating disorders, and stroke). Pediatric neuropsychological evaluations are carefully designed for the individual, are based on the highest standards of practice and research, and include: 1) An individual interview; 2) Parent Interview; 3) Comprehensive testing of multiple areas of cognitive functioning with personality testing as indicated; 4) review of medical and/or academic records; 5) A feedback and treatment planning session to review results and discuss recommendations; and 6) A comprehensive report which presents the content of the assessment and individualized recommendations that will be beneficial for parents, physicians, and school.
